Appearance: Yamato is about five feet seven inches tall, who is stronger physically than he generally looks to be, due to how he was raised. He is slender and quick. He has dark blond hair which he has grown down to his shoulders and tends to keep tied back to keep it out of his eyes, which are a deep blue. He has a scar on his left cheek, acquired when he was about thirteen. The scar starts at the upper part of his cheek and goes diagonally down to his chin. He generally wears dark blue pants, a lighter blue shirt, boots, and carries a sword on his back.

He also has a fresher scar on the right side of his face, acquired at the hands of Yubel-possessed Alphonse Elric, after Yamato destroyed several plushie cats under Yubel's power.

Personality: He is protective of those he cares about, but can be rude to anyone else and sometimes even to those whom he cares for. He will go to almost any lengths for someone he considers a friend, but those people are few and far between. He's also very loner-ish, preferring not to be bothered by most people. He likes music and many artistic ways of expression, though music is his favorite. He carries and plays a harmonica, usually when he wants to think about something.

Abilities/Strengths: He's a very skilled fighter when it comes to swordplay, having been taught by Piemon originally and later retrained and learning new skills with the help of the female Atem and Jaenelle Angelline, and can swim like a fish. He's pretty good at surviving in multiple situations. He's stubborn and headstrong, and once he decides someone is a friend, he will go to any length for them. He is also a reasonably talented musician, and after some months in Econtra, has added the guitar to the instruments he can play.

Notable Possessions: His sword, his harmonica, a small knife he keeps in one boot, his guitar, various plushies (especially one of Gabumon).

Weaknesses: Because of several events in the past (canon and otherwise) Yamato is much more insecure than he wants to let on to anyone. He pushes people away because of this insecurity. He needs people and he needs approval, but tries to prove he doesn't need either of those things, regardless of the consequences. Also, because of his AU upbringing, he's not really conversant with human society in some things, so could get easily confused or even deceived. He is learning through his experiences in Econtra, however.

History: While involved in a battle attempting to get back to their own world from the Digital World, Yamato was prevented from getting through the gateway, which closed, sealing him in that strange world, away from his friends. The castle the gate had been in was falling all around him, and he tried his best to get out with his Digimon partner before they were killed, or worse. Some might say that the worst happened, because Yamato wound up being knocked out as he fled, and when he woke up, he was in another castle, this one run by a Digimon who introduced himself as Piemon.

Piemon took good care of Yamato while he was recovering from his injuries, though Yamato was concerned at some things he heard the Digimon talking to others about when Yamato was thought to be asleep, such as what to do with him. Whatever the others wanted, Piemon's will overruled it, and he extended an invitation to stay at the castle until Piemon could find a way to get him to his own world again.

This was little more than a ruse to calm any suspicions that Yamato might have had, though Yamato himself didn't suspect this for many years, and by then it was too late. Piemon slowly inserted himself into Yamato's life as a surrogate father, teaching him of the Digital World and training him to be a warrior and use a sword. He wasn't given a specific title of 'prince' or anything like that, but every Digimon under Piemon's command knew that he was under Piemon's protection and to harm him would risk being deleted.

Yamato searched valiantly for a way to get to Earth, but all in vain. He threw himself into Piemon's teachings with a vengeance, at first in hopes that they would provide the answers he lacked, and later to keep himself occupied, knowing that his friends would come back some day, and wanting to be able to help them when they did. He still had Gabumon, who did not trust Piemon or the other ones who called themselves Dark Masters. Yamato himself lost that mistrust, and Gabumon stayed with him in the hopes of finding out a way to reveal the truth to him (if it should truly be as dark as he feared).

Piemon carefully managed Yamato's life, making certain that he was never anywhere unobserved so no one else could contaminate the boy he was so busily contaminating himself. He didn't want anyone telling him that the Dark Masters were really involved in taking over the Digital World until Yamato was so cemented in his loyalty to them that he wouldn't care when that happened. For the most part, that worked, until Yamato was about seventeen.

Piemon wanted to get Gennai, who had frequently guided Yamato and the other Children towards their destiny, out of the way, so after locating the old man's private home, he sent some of his personal troops there to attack. Unfortunately, they made the mistake of not checking to see where Yamato was at the time, and he recognized Gennai fighting and losing. He threw himself into the fight on Gennai's side, at first thinking that there'd been some sort of mistake, right up until Piemon joined the fight and berated him for not checking in with him before fighting.

Yamato was very surprised, as Piemon had very seldom scolded him before, not like this, and was even more surprised when Piemon turned his attentions to Gennai, attacking him. Yamato wasn't entirely certain of what to think, but Gennai escaped, and Piemon ordered Yamato to return to the castle. Yamato obeyed, though very reluctantly, his trust in Piemon beginning to erode.

Several weeks passed, and Yamato began to sneak out with Gabumon's help, learning more and more of what Piemon had hidden from him over the years. Realizing that he'd been tricked into becoming a servant of the enemy, he determined to break away and fight with his friends when they returned. Before he could do anything of the sort, two things happened: Piemon realized he had learned the truth and went after him personally. He was able to defeat Yamato, as he was the one who had taught Yamato virtually everything he knew about fighting, and in the battle, both Gabumon and the Crest of Friendship were lost. Yamato doesn't know if his partner was deleted and his Crest destroyed or not, only that when he woke up in his bedroom again, they were both gone. Before Piemon could do whatever he'd planned to do to him, Yamato was swept off to Econtra.

Since arriving in Econtra, Yamato has had a few interesting events happen. His two closest friends are Alternate L. Takion and Saioh Takuma, though there are others he will talk to and considers friends, though not quite as close. While Rosette Christopher was there, the two of them shared a relationship, though it never progressed beyond a few mild dates and kissing, and an acknowledgement between the two that they cared very deeply for each other. This ended when she was one of those who vanished from Econtra.

He's much more relaxed than he was on his original arrival, mainly because he has realized he's got a second chance now to defeat Piemon and free himself when he returns home. He takes care of two semi-sentient plants, courtesy of Takion, which are a snapdragon and a tiger lily. Not very long ago, his Digivice returned to him, and shortly before that, an alternate version of his brother Takeru arrived. This alternate version had been the Digimon Kaiser in his world, and had murdered the other Chosen Children after the Yagami Hikari of his world was killed. Yamato was surprised and devestated to learn this, but when the Dark Seed that had turned Takeru to evil was neutralized, he welcomed his brother back. This didn't last forever, as Takeru also eventually vanished.

Not that long ago, a new arrival shattered the peace Yamato had forged for himself: Piemon. The same Piemon who had raised Yamato for those years. Yamato unwillingly promised to do what Piemon wanted for so long as Piemon himself leaves Yamato's fellow Chosen alone. Piemon had told him that he has those Chosen captive as keychains with him, and a testing by Saioh revealed that there is a life-force of some kind there. Piemon's actions towards Yamato spurred the wrath of both Saioh and Takion, and in an attempt to deliver some justice, Saioh intruded upon Piemon's mind, stirring up defenses against which the only protection resulted in the shattering of Piemon's own mind, erasing perhaps centuries of memories and revealing a mental child. The keychains were also proven to be a deception, random Digimon that were caught only with the purpose of deceiving Yamato.

Learning of how Piemon was abused and trained and experimented on by a Digimon called Apocalymon, Yamato has sworn that he will find this Digimon one day and destroy him. Until then, he will take care of the new childlike Piemon as if he were his own son.

Yamato also fell in love, a relationship which started not long after Piemon arrived in Econtra, with one of his roommates in Loh-Ennea: Bakura (AU Thief King Bakura). The two very much enjoyed sparring with each other, and Bakura was determined to help Yamato not only take care of Piemon, but to bring down revenge upon Apocalymon somehow, someday.

Yamato has also acknowledged that as far as he's concerned, Takion is his choice of father figure for Econtra. This leads him to acknowledge Saetan SaDiablo as a secondary father figure (as Saetan and Takion are also together), Daemon as an honorary brother (and Daemon was also his first kiss, due to the events of a skills competition some months earlier), and AU!Atem as an honorary cousin. Piemon has joined the family, more or less as Yamato and AU!Thief King Bakura's honorary son. Yamato is also learning swordsmanship all over again from Jaenelle and Atem, and also considers Saioh to be the next thing to a brother. Family ties are extraordinarily important to Yamato, and having this family means more to him than he can ever express, even with his music.

Speaking of music, Yamato is also learning how to play the guitar under the tutelage of Tenjoin Fubuki, though it is hard now and then for him to control his jealousy of the fact Fubuki has two versions of his sister and a great deal of his own friends there, while he has so few people from his world that he knows.

Through the course of random gift-givings, Yamato now owns a heart eraser, a Gabumon plushie, a small set of roses, an origami dog, and a pair of gloves. He's also participated in the sending of fortune cookies (he baked them), and participated in a skills tournament.

Yamato's current goal is become the best fighter he can be, and to find out all that he can about Apocalymon's weaknesses and strengths, so when he returns to the Digital World, he can fight and destroy him in any way he possibly can.

Yamato and Bakura took their relationship to the physical level sometime after Piemon was reformed, and shortly before Christmas, they became engaged. Not that long before Valentine's Day, they were surprised by their roommate AU!Usagi and their friend/cousin/sister AU!Atem and wound up married.

Unfortunately, their happiness was short-lived, as Bakura became one of those to vanish from Econtra. Yamato has been heartbroken since then, though Saioh has assured him that Bakura, instead of returning to his world, is in the Digital World, waiting for him. He is slowly dragging himself back into actually living his life, though it will never be quite the same to him without the love of his life. But for Piemon's sake, he will do his best.

At a later point, Piemon and an alternate version of Yagami Hikari also vanished, and once again, Yamato had to struggle out of his depression. He still has Gabumon, however, and they moved in with Saioh, who was a little lonely himself. He is improving emotionally since then.
